Jonalyn & I just got back from yet another volleyball trip (volleyballvacations.com). As always, we had a fantastic time. So much so, that I'm blogging from work because I know I'll be too tired when I get home.

This time we went to the Club Med in Cancun. There was the usual assortment of playing volleyball, pro clinics, drinking, and meeting a bunch of really great people (like our waitress here, EJ). What took it to the next level was the great party crew, including the bunch from Atlanta that brought along the great game "Drinko", based off "Plinko" from 'The Price is Right'. Instead of winning money, you'd end up doing a drink based on where your disc fell, or worse, find yourself on the receiving end of a painful plowing (spanking). Simply brilliant.

At the end of our last day there, I had finally gotten a game of Ace going, when no more than 5 minutes in, we were interrupted by sea turtles hatching between courts to run to the ocean. Of course, we all stopped and helped make sure they didn't get caught in our ball-catching fences. It was simply incredible to see them all come out of the sand at the same time, and instinctively know how to head straight for the ocean where they'd be swept away by the current, and made up for the missed Ace.

The only downside came with my first big travel hiccups. On the way there, we did an extra lap in the DFW tram on our layover due to some "security incident". On the way back, they couldn't fix a mechanical problem with our plane in Cancun, so they flew in a new one to take us to Dallas, where we didn't get in until well past 1AM, slept in a hotel for 3 hours, then got on the earliest flight to LAX. An exhausting (in a bad way) end to an exhausting (in a good way) trip.
