The Travels of Vince, Devin & Grant

Last week I went to Zurich to work with some Google colleagues, and Jonalyn came along for the ride, utilizing the hotel Internet connection and cheap VOIP calling to get her work done. My mom flew down from Los Gatos to take care of Devin for the week (big thanks!). We got a lot of work done, and still had plenty of free time to explore the city and area. Highlights included our trip to the Uetliberg (the rain turned it from a hike into a train ride), taking the tram all around the city, stopping by the local restaurants, bars and clubs, and a trip to Lucerne where we even caught a beach volleyball tournament! The city is an excellent combination of modern and old, large enough to have plenty to do, but small enough to be manageable, excellent public transportation, clean, and lots of friendly English-speaking people. If we had to complain it would be about the lack of any sun until we got just a little on Friday and Saturday, and the worst case of jet lag we've had (perhaps helped by the lack of sun). After a much easier trip home than our jaunt from Italy, we're happy to see Devin and are amazed at how much he's grown and changed in the week we've been gone.
